The mines, once boarded up and abandoned, have been opened back up to any would-be spelunkers to venture into in the hopes of finding gems and treasures aplenty. It is said that these mines burrow deep into the depths of the mountain and no one can tell you exactly how deep they go, but if you're feeling lucky, grab a pickaxe on your way in and find out for yourself.

The mines are a cyoa-style exploration event that can be participated in once every week until the end of the game. Results are determined via RNG and can earn your character unique items, help or hinder them with blessings and curses, or result in bodily injury if they get unlucky enough. Your character may brave the mines alone or bring a friend.

As physical injuries (excluding death) are a possible result of exploring the mines, let us know at any time if you want to retcon your results to avoid your character getting injured. If you choose this option, it will be as if your character never stepped foot in the mines, but you will not be able to participate again until the following week. Weigh your options carefully!

[ When the two venture into the mines, they'll find a big gaping hole right at the end of the entrance floor. Normally, the hole would lead them down to the first floor of the mines, but it seems much deeper this time. Due to the well lit entrance floor, the two should be able to see about three floors deep, but whether that's the end of the fall, who knows? ]

I can see well enough, but not in color, and not with perfect clarity. The flashlight will improve upon its imperfections.

( He lifts his own unlit flashlight and spins it around his finger despite its heft and size.

They venture in... He pauses, however, at the edge of a hole that may seem familiar, but isn't. )

Care to venture down? I'm curious about where it all goes, but we can survey one floor at a time as we scale.

( He kneels down to see if he can see any notable features or movement in the floors further down. Thankfully, he has pitons and rope should they choose to descend. Idly, he remarks: )

Still, I do miss my enchanted rope at times like these. Far more useful than the standard issue.
