Personality:
Steinbeck is a 21-year old cheerful farmer boy from good old America, a seemingly laidback soul who enjoys the great outdoors. Appearances are deceiving, though, and deep down is a more darker picture - a man who would do horrible things such as do the dirty work of a terrible man if it means he can get the money he needs to help his starving family. A vivid anger runs through the veins of John Steinbeck, both literally and not (what with his ability, the Grapes of Wrath, a very on-point name), and its not something that will die down anytime soon, especially when it comes to people using their power to lord over others. For the most part, though, he's a casual, bright soul who chats with people easily, even if it takes some time to break down his walls - he knows how to put them up far too well, after all.

Steinbeck only has one power! (BODY HORROR DESCRIPTION BELOW)
In Bungou Stray Dogs, people are born with supernatural abilities that are named after the works or sayings of the authors that wield them. There is no explanation for how these abilities came to be, or how they work, or why some get abilities and others don't. A select few can be transferred through families, but regardless of that, little to nothing is known about their nature.
Steinbeck's supernatural ability is called The Grapes of Wrath, which allows him to control and accelerate the growth of grape seeds, and manipulate the movement of grapevines. While he has been shown to grow them outside of himself, Steinbeck often takes a very gruesome approach to his ability by inserting grape seeds into his open wounds, allowing his own body to become the "soil" that the grapes can grow from. Through this, he is connected to the sensations of the plant, allowing him to detect sound and movement through the plants as extensions of his own body.
However, this ability hardly seems impressive until you factor in the fact that grapes are often used for grafting onto other plants, and Steinbeck's ability becomes quite the deadly thing - using the grapevines he grows, he can attach them to other plants, therefore expanding his control and range far more effectively. He can literally control an entire forest if he allows his vines to connect to it, allowing him to move and grow roots and trees with the power of his will. However, if his connection is lost through a severing of his vines, he loses the control over all the plants he has grafted to.

Ideal dates/venues: Steinbeck is just about down for anything, but a venue where he can have a good time with another person, whether its walking through the woods or going to an amusement park. What matters to him is that they're both having fun and they're not doing anything too wild or stressful! (Also, its important that nothing costs too much - he can splurge every now and then, but he's money-conscious where it counts.)

Whenever he hits a perfect 20, he will successfully be able to grow his grapes, but otherwise, this power will be nerfed even with bonus activity since it's too OP in a farming game. The same for connecting his vines to other plants and causing them to grow, which he will be unable to do. In addition, the grape seeds that he's bringing will not grow here! Oops.
